THE EDUCATED IDIOT

It was my train travel from Durgapur, Kolkata to Delhi. I was standing in Durgapur railway station for change of boarding place (maybe further details about why am changing, and other explanations is not required for this blog) to avoid unnecessary travel.

Two guys approached me to fill their reservation form. From their attitude and gesture I found out that they expect me to fill their reservation form. They started speaking in their local language (Bengali of course). I gave a weird look that made them realize, I don’t know Bengali.

They started sniggering to themselves. “Why in the world I should know Bengali?” I shouted to myself in anger. I decided to wriggle away from that place. But my consciousness poked me to help these guys out.

My 4 years of engineering, 8 semesters with 24 assessments taught me how to arrive answers from the most untidy ‘BIT’ written by anybody in my class. (atleast that was in English)

They tried so hard to make me realize the name of the train, boarding place, date of journey. “Khakan pal” said one guy.

What in the world “khakan pal” means.I know Amala pal, the girl with beautiful eyes.

Frustrated guy is making an attempt to show is finger. I prayed not get the middle one from a Bengali guy. He traced his index finger on his forehead.I

OMG!!!

His name is Khakan pal. In no time I filled his name.

“ O ..O … Orange … O “ said Mr. Khakan pal

O for orange, A for apple and 24 other basic fundamentals were taught to me 20 years before. Why is he trying to reinforce my fundamentals?

I realized the guy is lacking control of temper. Probably I should ask him for four options and a fifty fifty or should go for audience help. He started making circles in the reservation chart.

“KHOKAN PAL !!!” I got it and I was so excited about it. Expected a bhil kul sahi jawab from him( as I know the meaning for this statement ALONE)

Rather he gave me a nasty look and muffled something in Bengali. Probably he would have scolded me like what to do with this EDUCATED IDIOT.

“Bad things always happen to Philanthropist” I consoled myself.

After successful completion of my first round getting no prize as reward I moved to the second mission of filling the second half. Details like applicant name, address, phone number moreover signature should be filled. I gulped. I can’t escape telling this is out of syllabus. I got numerous questions to be answered like How to get his address? By drawing a house besides the reservation chart? (Maybe my Engineering drawing can help me a little bit)

Shall I fill in with my particulars? What if he is a terrorist? I felt ashamed of my anticipation.

Somehow I managed to get his address and made him sign. He drew something as signature and got away telling “@#$%&”

What I could be?

Fcuk off?

Learn better English?

Thankyou ?

Wateva …

‘FRIENDSHIP- wat it means, I dono’

(this blog doesn’t follow any grammar and those rules of basics taught in school)

Friendship - a relationship that cannot be defined in this ever expanding world. Anyone trying to postulate the meaning of this would be one who hasn’t seen the complete ocean of it. Friends are like bed time alarm clocks, we snooze it many a time but hardly switch it off.

Friends who woke me up all the four years and chided me to push me to class, taught me the important questions at the last minute during assessments, helped me in mal-practicing in all 4 * 2 * 3 *(no of subjects + labs) assessments, especially VASU- you flourished that paper scrolling technique in our department HATs off . @shankar, Raghu, Kavin, Subaraj, Saami. @aswin: yaro oruthar bday ku nee vangna adiya maraka mudiyathu machi :P :P @Saami: love those tomato rice you bring for us

Friends who understood me in times of need, especially when I had no money, the words “ naa irukan da va pathukalaam“ were very supportive and encouraging. @Raghu miss your cracks n late night motta madi jokes , love that triangular fight between you, your mom and dad…….(but paavi paiya 3 months la thirupee ketaane)

Friends in NCC , no words, full time koothu.. @bharani: macha u taught me a lot da.. love those nights in your home, they days we pranked, the punishments we gave, I think you will never forget that Mumbai express figure :P (konja over ah aatam pottutom) … one camp is all in our lives.. Friends from childhood are very special, because they were behind all the metamorphosis @ Ally, Lactif, karthick Raja, Bhai, Dhinesh, Rajesh .. all u guys have scattered to diff places, yet our memories are chained

Friends in the first semester were something special, like a barbie for a grown up gal. fights for lunch box, ‘OC’ pen pencil from Vidu, threatening thimiru pudicha gals anonymously, bunking first hour class and visiting ghandi mandapam and thinking that we were heroes, sitting on the bus stand’s parapet wall (and having that grumpy look in face as naangalum porikies), birthday greeting, DJ sister’s marriage, H batch Radhika @radio who sang for my birthday- night shows and climbing the walls of hostel, like monkey yet thinking naangalum attakaasam panuvom, election aarpatam- seniors support -agni la train otnathu.. gals side paper rockets …. Friends who rot in a single room counting the number of days left unbathed, unwashed…. Performing cranks and somersaults in the middle of night attracting all others and becoming night time heroes. @ jack, kumba, KK: the worst performance was the night before ED exam photographing all our stunts and proving our flexibility. @kicha: cannot forget the stunt you made, THE GREAT FALL that woke the night watchman. kalachifying VIVEK all the night(sorry machan)… @kumba: the best bday celebration ever celebrated. We almost raped you :P

Friends who prove friendship needs no medium of communication and prey of presence: @vaishu: u were such a ‘nonja vandi’ :P dono how we became close- missed your presence , should have met you in the first sem itself- u remind me of the gowndamani’s comedy “yenna vai da ithu, thol vai :P” u speak a lot, u hear a lot, u expect others to acknowledge- typical Aquarian-don’t get bogged by the tough times- @aasha: u are the person who completely believe in friendship because you don’t believe in any other relations- I learnt the value of friendship from you- @niranjan/anand: learned how to value friends and how to care for them.. the pondy trip- CFT-manali-

Happy friendship day to all my friends and others. This is not just a day to celebrate, but a day to remember the most valuable moments in our bible of life.
